#TeamKSP.
Mentorship as Methodology.
A community-centered doctoral advising model — scaffolded support and group leadership.
What #TeamKSP Is
#TeamKSP is Dr. Stephens-Peace's doctoral advising and mentorship community — a growing cohort of scholars being trained inside the #KSP Universe.
Being part of #TeamKSP means more than working on a research project. It means learning what it looks like to build a scholarly identity with intention, to do research that has something at stake, and to develop the skills — methodological, analytical, and human — that the field actually needs.
Members of #TeamKSP work on active research projects, contribute to publications and conference presentations. They are not on the periphery of the work. They are inside it.
Hallmarks of #TeamKSP
The #TeamKSP model, in practice, exercises:
- Optional monthly co-working spaces led by advisees for advisees
- Shared resource library
- Wellness as non-negotiable
- Async communication (via a text chat)
- Twice yearly all-advisees check in
- Solo and Group advising by milestone
- Peer accountability and celebration
- Monthly newsletter curated by Dr. KSP for advisees to stay connected & access resources
- First to receive immediate hands-on research experience via Dr. KSP's Access Lab
How It Works
Advisees always maintain autonomy and can opt to skip out on what they want to, except for the "All Advisees check in" and the monthly newsletters. Advisees receive custom merch as a token of recognition of their hard work, and their commitment to the process. Dr. KSP believes in the community model and disengages from unhealthy competition in this stage of learning for her advisees. She discourages that, and invites advisees wherever they are, coursework or post-coursework, that they all have something to offer.
